The Crystal Classic was born from the dreams and vision of Dan Prior, Fairfield Senior High School Chorus Director (retired, June 2004). With the boundless energy and enthusiasm of both Dan and Diane Prior, hundreds of volunteers were soon drawn to support and become a part of this dream. Each year Dan and Diane have continued to develop and elevate the Crystal Classic to become the exciting, unique, bigger than life experience that it is today. The Fairfield community, and thousands of Crystal Classic devotees heartily thank Dan and Diane for making this dream come true!

  Competition Overview

Throughout the day, each school performs their show according to the schedules shown within Middle School and Senior High School.  This is the Preliminary Competition.

At the conclusion of the Preliminary competition, attendees are asked to move to the Arena for a special performance by Fairfield Middle School’s Rhythm Express.

Schools will choose (2) students to represent their choir in-costume for the awards ceremony. At the Afternoon awards, participation gifts will be distributed, as well as Class Trophies and Runner-Up awards. Caption awards, including Best Instrumental Group (HS only), Best Tech Crew (HS only), Best Set (HS only), Best Costume, and Best Male/Female Vocalist will also be given. The top male and female soloist will be asked to return to sing in finals, as well as the top scoring Small Mixed show choirs (in Performing Arts Center) and top scoring Large Mixed show choirs (in Arena.)  A final awards ceremony will be held in the Arena at the conclusion of the event

Schools that are chosen to remain for the Finals are asked to allow members/spectators of the first performing school to go through the dinner line first. Groups that are not chosen for Finals are asked to load up their equipment trucks promptly and assist in cleaning their homerooms. Score packets will be available in the Main Office once homerooms have been cleaned. We welcome these groups to stay for the evening competition!

At the conclusion of the Finals, the Evening Awards are presented.
